Mechanical design for The Line: Worlds Championship 2022

I was approached by The Line Studios to join their Mech Design team for their launch film for League of Legends Worlds 2022 Championships.

In this film, four different League of Legends’ champions would be presented as giant robots summoned by the players from the different competing esports teams. It was our mission to define the look and technical functionality of these four mechs.

Specifically, I worked with the Mech Design team defining the look of champions Thresh and Twisted Fate. Following the link to see samples of my work for this project.

Production by The Line in collaboration with Riot Games LoL Esports.

For Twisted Fate, I helped fleshing out his overall design, all the way to defining it’s smaller details and functionality. Even though complex in appearance, one of the goals was to keep it’s base simple so animators could move it’s different parts comfortably.

Even though fantastical in nature, the animation team wanted to keep articulations grounded in reality. The same was true for the different decorative elements of each mech, such as side plaques, clothing, etc.
